I'm just calling it what I see: it should not state "Beta-2" if it's not. Given the level of stability, it should not even state Beta-1, as for me.
So.. A bit faster due to 32-bit. A bit less space due to 32-bit. A bit more compatible because of 32-bit. But still it sucks in terms of drivers compatibility. Some of the Intel chip devices is still not recognized. My WinTV card has been recognized only on the audio part, video driver is recognized but can't be installed due to some strange error during installation.
Luckily there is a nice mode that "mocks" prior OS response and allows installation of XP drivers. Unluckily, not all of them install.
Same problems with glass blinking and non-native Windows interface applications like iTunes.
I can't install native Microsoft Intellitype and Intellipoint. (I could do it wiht 64-bit by the way!) During installation there is a step where you have to choose your product (type of mouse and keyboard respectively). No list simply: just empty space in the place where the list should appear and the "Next" button is grayed. Obviously, no way to continue.
MusicMatch still doesn't work without explanation ("Please close mim")
What I don't understand is why Microsoft doesn't care about UI so much as Apple for example? Those folks have quite good UI demand built for developers. Even Microsoft Office looks absolutely Apple style in the MacOS! Allright, they have now implemented glass but if they cared of the consistent look and feel of all the windows like Apple does, there was absolutely no issue with the new interface: standard libraries would be used and obviously all applications would just look in accordance with new design. And by the way, it would be easier for the users to find the features and navigate within the system.
Unstable. My Realtek High Definition Audio has died after getting into the sleep mode and back to life. After some time DVD drivers for both of my DVD drives stop working mysteriously.
Let me try something heavier like Office 2003 and Photoshop.. :)

Vista beta-2 32-bit issues
Build 5308 is NOT Beta 2, it is an Interim Build and is NOT to be considered Officaial Beta Quality. The real Beta 2 is NOT due out until Wednesday, April 12th, 2006, and will most likely be a General Public Release.

Can you enlighten me and others as to the above statement that you made. Where did you get that date from to make such a statement ?

The hardware manufacturers must supply drivers to Microsoft for inclusion in the Operating System. If the manufacturers do not do so, and do not release the drivers on their own web site, you will be in for hardware replacement.
Unfortunately, quite a few will use this opportunity to force you to purchase new hardware.

P.P.S. Don't go there looking for Leaks, because they don't allow them on their Website, as they currently have a Partnership with Microsoft.

Neowin is not a Microsoft owned site, so they cannot be right. Sometimes enthusiast sites such as WinInformant or Neowin get ahold of internal documents that suggest what the Company is aiming for, its possible that this is the casem it does not mean they have set an exact date for the BETA. -- -- Andre Windows Connect | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Kevin John Panzke" wrote in message
